Scroller – Dynamic Scrollbar v2

A newer, better version of my scrollbar class. This one does not have any classes attached to movieclips. Instead you pass it a content clip, mask clip, track clip and slider clip like so:

_scrollbar = new Scrollbar();
_scrollbar.init(content, contentMask, track, slider);

This version also supports mouse wheel scrolling.

I signed up for a wordpress account just to say to you that this blog is awesome! I’ve been here for the past three months, checking every few weeks to see if a new post has been made, and a new post hadn’t been made in ages.
I just want you let you know, in case your disappointed by no comments, lot’s of people still come here and read your stuff.

Anyway, I use AS2, and I was wondering if your still going to make AS2 posts or if it’s just AS3 now.

  • Hi Sean,

    Thank you for your words of encouragement! I really appreciate it.

    I’m sorry but I stopped doing AS2 about 2 years ago. Have you considered switching to AS3? It will be the best move you can make. You wont regret it!

  • Hi!
    First at all, thank you for this scrollbar.
    I just have a one question.
    How can i load them externally (as a external movie clip)? I am not an expert and i need a help. Every time i try i am getting this message:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
    at com.freeactionscript::Scrollbar/enable()
    at com.freeactionscript::Scrollbar/init()
    at Main()

    Thank you!!!

  • Hi banjole,

    I believe you are getting that error because the script is trying to access “stage” and it is not yet available. Update the code everywhere where ‘stage” is referenced to check if stage exists before doing anything with it.

  • hello and thanks for sharing this fantastic Scrollbar !!

    i have Q

    how can i use this for more than one time , as the content must be in movieclip with this name and we can use the same name more than once …
